Three Bears Yarn

Today’s post is a little different.  I’m writing my very first yarn review and it’s of a yarn that I’ve fallen in love with.

First a little bit about the company that produces it (this bit has been pinched from their website)  “Welcome to Three Bears Yarn. We might be a new company, but behind us there is over 100 years of textile manufacturing heritage. We are combining our experience with the latest technology to produce the finest quality yarns for knitting, crochet and crafts. We have an exciting range of products and colours available, designed for everyone from the most cutting-edge crafters to traditionalists.”

As well as producing great yarn they do fantastic charity work too.  Having already supported the snowflake appeal,  they are currently supporting Hyndburn Stray Dogs In Need by selling special charity packs of yarn. A percentage of the sales from these packs go to the charity. You can read more about it on their website.

Now on with the review and what is this yarn you’ve fallen in love with I hear you ask?  Well it’s the Affection cotton yarn.  It comes in three different weights – 4ply (USA fingering) Dk (USA sport) and Aran (USA worsted).  There is a wide choice of colours which are carried across all three weights.  My personal favourite is the Dk, especially the pastel colours which are perfect for this time of year.  One thing I would say if you want to try the Dk is that it is a thin Dk weight but I haven’t found this to be a problem.  All the items in the photograph below have been made using the Dk yarn.

I only came across Three Bears Yarn at the beginning of this year but over the last three months their cotton yarn has fast become my favourite. It is one of the very few cotton yarns I’ve found that doesn’t split.  It comes in a wide choice of colours as I’ve already mentioned and it has great stitch definition. The cotton itself has a matte appearance which is a look I love.  I can also say that the items I’ve made with it have washed really well.

If you want to find out a bit more about them and view their different ranges then please click on the link under ‘my favourite shops’ If you’re not in the UK there’s no excuse as they ship worldwide 😀

I hope you’ve found this review useful and if you’d like me to do more reviews then please let me know x
