The Squishy Blanket

I woke up this morning wanting to make a blanket for myself.  Even though we’ve been having nice weather recently I’ve been really feeling the cold.

I have a wardrobe that is bursting at the seams with balls of yarn, a lot of which is  Stylecraft Special Dk,  so that is the yarn of choice for my blanket.  I love the choice of colours they have and for a yarn that is 100% acrylic it really is very soft.

As I want a nice cozy, squishy blanket I’m  using the double crochet stitch (single crochet for US) and a 6mm hook which is quite a bit bigger than the recommended 4mm for this yarn.  I think using a bigger hook with the DC stitch makes for a much softer fabric.

I’ve done a few rows already but I’m not kidding myself, I know this blanket will take quite a while to finish.  I hope you will join me on my journey making it.
